Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia opened on December 31st. The park features three signature Intamin attractions, including Falcons Flight the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster.

Six Flags Qiddiya City project 

The Qiddiya project is part of the Saudi Vision 2030 program and is centered around a city designed for entertainment. This city built for play includes sports facilities, entertainment facilities, a waterpark and theme parks. The inaugural asset, Six Flags Qiddiya City, just opened its doors. The project has attracted considerable attention from both fans and professionals in the amusement industry due to its meticulously themed areas and rides that set new records.

Breaking records 

Falcons Flight and Spitfire, two Intamin LSM Launch coasters, are designed to break records and thrill riders on a scale never seen before. Together these two rides hold four world records. Among the more gentle and observational attractions, the custom-designed Flying Island, Skywatch, at Six Flags Qiddiya City, elevates guests smoothly into the air to provide exceptional panoramic views of the park and the surrounding Tuwaiq Mountains.

 

Falcons Flight

The world’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster. Powered by Intamin’s industry-leading LSM drive system, the most powerful on the market, Falcons Flight has been designed to shatter records while remaining comfortable and enjoyable for riders.

The aerodynamic shapes of the trains and windshields are engineered to pierce through the air, ensuring exceptional ride comfort all while keeping the highest degree of safety.

Experience the 4 325 meter track of Falcons Flight and challenge an unmatched speed of 250 km/h, a breathtaking cliff dive, and unprecedented height of 195 meters on a roller coaster. 

Spitfire

Reaching a height of 73 meters in Six Flags Qiddiya’s skyline, Spitfire features the world’s tallest inversion on a roller coaster. Spitfire reaches a 127 km/h triple launch powered by Intamin’s market-leading LSM drive system, the most powerful in the industry.

Using Intamin’s Fast Switch technology and a vertical spike, this ride delivers unique thrills with weightlessness at the spike, airtime on the humps, and a breathtaking inverted top hat finale. Riders experience 900 meters of track with a physical track length of 582 meters, making Spitfire a thrilling ride experience packed with airtime and weightlessness. 

Skywatch

Soar 45 meters above the ground on Skywatch and enjoy 360-degree panoramic views. See Falcons Flight gliding on the camelback and Spitfire flying through an inverted Top Hat right next to you. The tent design of this Flying Island blends perfectly into the park landscape and turns Skywatch into an eye-catching icon, whether on the ground or in the air.

With a longstanding partnership with Intamin, Dreamworld opened its brand-new Gyro Swing, King Claw, on December 12, 2025.

Replace a beloved ride

In 2004, Dreamworld  introduced its first Gyro Swing, “The Claw,” a 27-meter-high, first-generation Intamin Gyro Swing that remained a guest favorite for years.

After 20 years of successful operation, The Claw has retired beginning of 2025  to make way for a 50% higher, more advanced version – delivering a modern ride experience and increased capacity.

Built on the site of the original “The Claw”, King Claw features a 25-meter-long arm that reaches a maximum height of 42 meters at a 120-degree angle, providing riders with moments of complete weightlessness at the peak of each swing and making it the southern hemisphere’s largest Gyro Swing.

The gondola gently rotates, ensuring a dynamic ride experience with every swing. Each of the 40 passengers enjoys comfortable, suspended seating secured by a proven restraint system without upper-body restrictions. Despite its thrilling appearance, the Gyro Swing appeals to a wide range of guests and is considered the world’s best flat ride by many fans and visitors.

Sustainable solution

King Claw is equipped with a state-of-the-art direct drive system, recognized as the most powerful on the market, resulting in an exceptionally smooth and dynamic ride. Intamin has refined this technology over the years, allowing for significant noise reduction from the direct-drive power unit.

Additionally, the drive system enables the recovery of up to 40% of the energy needed to operate the ride, leading to substantial energy savings and reduced operational costs – making King Claw a sustainable investment for the park.

On 18 October, Parque Unipraias in Brazil has unveiled a new Super Gyro Tower that has redefined the local skyline and promises to enhance the guest experience.

Unparalleled panoramic views

Standing an impressive 53 metres tall from the ground the Intamin Super Gyro Tower is an observation tower offering visitors unparalleled panoramic views over Balneário Camboriú, the surrounding natural landscape of the Atlantic Ocean and the lush local forest.

Situated at the very peak of Morro da Aguada and designed with a compact footprint to maximize the limited available space, this observation tower elevates guests to a height of 240 metres above sea level, making it one of the most remarkable vantage points in the region.

On June 28 2025, Gyeongju World in South Korea opened their centerpiece attraction, Time Rider, to commemorate their 40th anniversary. This meticulously themed Coaster Wheel offers a dual experience catering to both families and thrill seekers.

Two unique experiences

Setting itself apart from classic Giant Wheel and observation attractions, Gyeongju World has chosen Intamin’s Coaster Wheel model, which features two unique ride experiences.

The first offers a classic Giant Wheel ride, allowing visitors to enjoy sweeping views across the park and its scenic landscape.

Alternatively, visitors can choose the dynamic ride experience with mobile gondolas. These gondolas are set on a track inspired by Intamin’s Roller Coasters, and they move with gravity as the wheel rotates, creating the sensation that the gondola is detaching from the structure before swinging back to a rest position.

On April 5th, 2025, Bellewaerde in Belgium reopened Amazonia to the public. Our project team has been working diligently in close collaboration with the park during the off-season. Together, we’ve developed enhancements to the ride’s halfpipe section to better control the trajectory of the boats and increase the guest experience.

Amazonia introduces numerous innovative elements, some of which have never been implemented on a Rapids Ride before.

Amazonia’s enhancements

The ride has been upgraded with new enhancements to improve the guest experience. These enhancements were developed in collaboration with Bellewaerde throughout the winter season. Below are two of the primary ones implemented.

New Guide Rail

First, a guide rail has been added at the entrance of the halfpipe to control raft trajectory and increase the time spent in the element.

Upgraded water pump

Secondly, the team upgraded the water pump to increase water flow and boost raft speed on the final drop into the halfpipe. This also brings a new splash effect to refresh riders during the hot summer days.

Georgia Gold Rusher delivers an unparalleled ride experience with a large amount of weightlessness and airtime moments.

Firstly, this is achieved through the airtime hill and two beyond vertical, ejector intense gravity stall ramps with 44-metres height. Secondly, the free-spinning, spin-incited vehicles offer a unique sensation of floating and spinning through the air, making each ride different from the last resulting in a highly re-rideable experience.

With its shuttle-style coaster design on a compact footprint, riders can enjoy up to 600 meters of experienced track on just 180 meters of physical track.

In addition, the Ultra Surf utilizes Intamin’s state-of-the-art water-cooled LSM launch system, the most powerful available on the market, vehicles can reach speeds of up to 95 km/h, and delivers a powerful acceleration from the very first push. On top of that, the smooth ride experience is further enhanced by a simpler and wider track design, which requires less supporting structure.

On October 31st 2024, Efteling in the Netherlands opened the highly anticipated and first-of-its-kind “Danse Macabre” attraction to the public. 

Over the years, Efteling and Intamin have successfully collaborated to pioneer the amusement industry through a strong and successful partnership. In 2024, this reached a new milestone with the opening of “Danse Macabre”.

Storyline and Backstory 

Built on the site of the beloved Spookslot (Dutch for “Haunted Castle”), expectations for this new ride were high. Together with Efteling, Intamin was entrusted to develop an innovative and highly unique ride system, perfectly aligned with the storyline’s vision which is centred around the famous “Danse Macabre” composition by Camille Saint-Saëns from the 19th century. 

The tale unfolds on Friday the 13th in 1876, when the eccentric conductor Joseph Charlatan’s entire orchestra vanished during an international music competition. After a grand performance of Danse Macabre, they were ruthlessly devoured by “The Unnamable,” an evil, monstrous, cat-like creature that still prowls these parts today. 

High Capacity Ride System 

The “Danse Macabre” ride system, or Dynamic Motion Stage, has an instant capacity of 108 passengers with each of the six custom-themed church stall cabins accommodating 18 guests each (alternate seating configurations available).  

The cabins can optionally incorporate 4D effects like scent and butt kickers together with an on-board audio system to enhance the storytelling.

Heave, Tilt, and Drop 

The ride system features an unlimited individual cabin rotation, a 25° (maximum) tilt on the 18-meter-diameter main platform combined with a limitless rotation of the main platform itself. The hydraulic system allows for platform movements of up to 3 meters in height, with heave speeds of up to 1.5 m/s and drop speeds of up to 3 m/s. 

The overlay of movements possible with this ride system offers a whole new world of possibilities and allows for storytelling on different levels. These elements combine to create a highly immersive environment, complemented by the exceptional theming effects designed by Efteling.

Lift & Launch

Gold Rush at Drayton Manor offers a dynamic ride which will take you on a wild adventure through the history of the gold mining era.

In one of the two ride sequences, you will experience the lift hill both in the classic forward way but will, after a separate backwards friction wheel launch section, reverse the backside of the lift hill, stall, and launch forwards back down the lift hill again.

Afterward, a dynamic friction wheel launch will then propel you through close-to-ground manoeuvres along the rest of the exciting layout. The layout includes includes many low-to-the-ground elements that create a surprising and dynamic ride experience for the whole family.

Gold Rush features Intamin’s proven single-backbone track which ensures a smooth ride experience and offers an aesthetically pleasing design, requiring fewer columns compared to the traditional two-pipe track systems

Multi-Experience Ride

Additionally, Gold Rush is designed with a unique multi-experience layout configuration, enabling it to alternate between two distinct ride sequences at the flick of a switch. This allows the park to vary the ride experience, opting (for example) for one sequence in the morning and a different one later in the day.

Exiting the station, you ascend the inclined lift as the boat traverses the initial elevated section of the ride. After this, momentum is gained following the steel channel path, spinning as you navigate the curves and turns downwards. Following some fun, small, splashes, you’ll descend into a splashdown and traverse a slow-moving floating section. 

Transitioning from the floating channel, you’ll enter the Rotating Vertical Lift, granting great panoramic views as you ascend, slowly rotating, to the 18-meter-high elevated steel channel. This brief final segment leads to the iconic Halfpipe, where you’ll experience an exhilarating drop and make your way down the halfpipe channel, returning to the station via a gentle floating section. 

Finally, surprise awaits as you enter the main mining building at the station. Prepare for an almost weightless moment as you experience a 5-meter Bungee Drop from the top into the mines and up again!

Walibi Rhône-Alpes, following a long-standing partnership with Intamin since 1988, opened their new single-rail roller coaster to the public with “Mahuka”, an Intamin Hot Racer, on June 15, 2024. 

 Mahuka, meaning “escape” in Hawaiian, invites visitors to explore the heart of an abandoned temple built in honor of the God of Fire on a secluded island in the South Pacific. But be careful not to provoke the God’s sacred fire, or risk becoming a prisoner of the temple! Escape the site, conquer your fears, and brace yourself for an unforgettable ride, full of sensations you won’t want to miss!

Maximize thrills in a compact space

Intamin’s Hot Racer is an innovative single–rail roller coaster model designed to maximize thrills in a compact space. With its slender trains and track design, the Hot Racer offers unparalleled flexibility for layout creativity, allowing for the incorporation of thrilling elements within a limited footprint.

Additionally, the seats were enhanced with new padding to accommodate riders as small as 120 cm (4 ft), unaccompanied.

After the great success of “Taiga”, Intamin’s LSM Multi-Launch Coaster, in 2019, Linnanmäki in Finland successfully opened their new Intamin Gyro Swing named “Swingi”, to their guests on April 30, 2024.

The Gyro Swing operates with a 25-meter long arm combined with a rotating gondola accommodating 40 passengers. It swings back and forth, reaching heights of 42 meters at a 120-degree angle. Each swing provide riders with complete weightlessness at the top. Meanwhile, the enjoyable rotation ensures a dynamic ride experience with each swing and adds beautifully to each ride. Despite the ride’s thrilling visual appeal, Intamin’s Gyro Swing enjoys a wide ridership and is considered one of the most favored round ride in the world.

In addition, Swingi features a direct drive system, proven to be the most powerful on the market. It results in an incredibly smooth and dynamic ride experience. Intamin advanced this technology over the years resulting in a very low noise level from the direct-drive power unit.

Furthermore, the drive system enables the recovery of up to 40% of the power needed to operate the ride. Resulting in energy savings, and reduced operational costs for a more sustainable ride investment.

Moreover, passengers are seated in the suspended seating, secured by our most comfortable and service-proven restraint system without upper-body restrictions, which offers a high level of freedom to riders.

Linnanmäki introduced Swingi as a replacement for an old round ride, seeking a thrilling and iconic attraction that would fit within a restricted footprint. Therefore Intamin’s Gyro Swing is a great addition to the park’s lineup of rides.

Thanks to the fantastic collaboration with Linnanmäki’s creative team, Swingi’s theming was fully customized to match the unique musical theme of the ride.

After 12 years of operation, Skyrush at Hersheypark, Pennsylvania, has undergone a first-class upgrade. Since its debut in 2012, Skyrush has been a pioneer in roller coaster innovation, boasting the title of the first Intamin “Wing Coaster” featuring lap bars (instead of over-the-shoulder restraints) and soaring to a height of 200ft (61m) with a thrilling, dynamic layout and intense airtime experiences.

Why giving Skyrush new seats?

Being the first Intamin coaster to introduce floorless seats with lap bars, Skyrush set the stage for the now ubiquitous lap bar restraints, which Intamin LSM Launch Coasters has adopted a couple of years later.

As one of the key attractions for Hersheypark as well as (arguably) one of the best most popular coasters in Pennsylvania and even the U.S., Skyrush has always been an important attraction. The only thing missing was to ensure that all guests enjoyed a comfortable ride experience, which the first-generation lap bar system had inhibited for certain guests.

Inspired by the seamless, open, and comfortable experience offered by modern LSM Launch Coasters from Intamin, Hersheypark approached Intamin with a request to upgrade the Wing Coaster trains with contemporary LSM seats and restraints, aiming to enhance rider comfort and make an almost perfect ride even better.

Intamin’s Know-How 

This specific request from Hersheypark required the right experts and knowledge.  Intamin’s after-sales division “Intamin Parts and Services” (IPS), together with the U.S. Aftersales organization Intamin Ltd, had to conduct several preliminary studies in-house.

Initially, we needed to pinpoint all the components of the ride that the alteration would affect. Some were immediately apparent, like the space the new seats would occupy on the chassis. However, others were less obvious, such as the structural integrity of the entire coaster, which engineers had designed for a specific train weight.

We had to revisit every element in the intricate puzzle of ride creation from square one. Consequently, we had to meticulously apply the routine steps we undertake daily for our new attractions to this project.

Intamin’s team of engineers at IPS worked to create Skyrush new seats that seamlessly integrated into its existing configuration. They underwent rigorous assessment and scrutiny to ensure compliance with industry standards while providing optimal comfort. Every detail, from structural integrity to operational procedures, was scrutinised to guarantee the utmost safety and enjoyment for riders.

The result? A coaster experience like no other, where thrills meet comfort in perfect harmony.

Embark on a lunar journey! The Cité de l’espace opened its new immersive ride experience on November 14th, 2023. 

The equipment operates on a centrifuge principle, where the rotation speed induces acceleration on guests comfortably seated within ride cabins designed to mimic the environment of a rocket launch module. In total, there are ten cabins, each accommodating four experimenters. Not just an attraction, LuneXplorer is also a scientific experiment. The primary goal is to immerse passengers in the experience of being astronauts while elucidating the principles of forces. 

This unique immersive ride, the second one of its kind in Europe, allows visitors to undergo a simulated take-off and journey to the Moon, complete with the physical sensations involved. The experience unfolds in four 10-minute sections, beginning in the lobby of a renovated 1,500 m2 building dedicated to moon missions. To board one of the capsules and experience an up to 3G pressure lift-off, guests must be at least 1.30 meters tall.

The year 2023 has already now been an intense and pivotal year for us at Intamin, brimming with new ride opening milestones and a host of prestigious awards.

For one, we are highly honoured to have received accolades across multiple award categories at the Park World Excellence Awards: Supplier of the Year, Best Roller Coaster of the Year, Best Ride, and Best Dark/Media Based Ride. The European Star Awards by Kirmes Park Revue were equally triumphant, with Intamin securing Europe’s Best New Coaster and Europe’s Best Water Ride. It all began with the record-breaking opening of “Toutatis” at Parc Astérix in April, setting the stage with a highly anticipated layout featuring many elements with a highlight being our fast-track switch with reversed spike and reversed launch, beautifully themed and integrated into the park and surroundings.

Shortly after, Parque Warner launched its new LSM Launch Coaster in Spain, featuring our brand new developed LSM trains and captivating enthusiasts to solidify its place as a standout world-class attraction.

Back in Spain, PortAventura opened their technologically most advanced, storytelling dark ride “Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence”, another novelty attraction to the Intamin portfolio— our first Multi Dimension Coaster featuring a fully rotatable, LSM-powered vehicle with multiple special effects elements and our first collaboration with Sally Dark Rides!

On July 20th, 2023 Fuji-Q Highland had the grand opening of their new  LSM LAUNCH MOTORBIKE COASTER named “Zokkon”.

Fuji-Q Highland is one of Japan’s most popular amusement parks, located in the Fuji Five Lake region at the foot of Mount Fuji. It is best known for its thrilling, record-breaking roller coasters and elaborate, anime-themed rides and attractions. Utilizing Intamin’s most powerful LSM propulsion system, this Multi Launch Coaster has a height of 25 meters and an experienced track length of more than 1’300 meters with top speeds of over 73 km/h. Hold tight, Zokkon features four powerful LSM launches of which one is a backward launch right after the breathtaking spike taking riders backwards to an indoor show scene. Passengers get to enjoy twelve airtime moments, electrifying turns and gripping ride elements that will leave anyone gasping for more.The futuristic 14-seater motorbike themed trains, with integrated sound and lighting come in a side-by-side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats. This roller coaster guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.

Intamin’s newest PARACHUTE TOWER, “Dragonwatch,” took flight on July 1st, 2023, at Toverland in the Netherlands.

Rising to approx. 20 meters, Dragonwatch gives you a dragon’s-eye view of the Avalon World and a phenomenal panorama of the beautiful park. As you ascend, keep an eye out for mischievous dragons lurking in the newly expanded area. With a total of six parachutes, one on each cantilever, six fearless passengers can ride on each parachute in a back-to-back seating position, ready to conquer the skies. Experience the dynamics of the high accelerations up and down as you become the ultimate dragon watcher, plunging into the depths and moving at different speeds resulting in several attractive ride profiles. Dragonwatch welcomes adventurers of all sizes. Riders taller than 80cm can hop on board and get ready for an unforgettable journey!

Dragonwatch is also an engineering marvel as its newly designed innovative belt drive system ensures a smooth and quiet operation, keeping the excitement high and the noise low. Plus, it’s maintenance-friendly, making it a breeze for the hardworking Toverland team to keep the fun soaring!

When the sun sets, Dragonwatch transforms into a mesmerizing spectacle. Dazzling lights dance upon the colourful tower and its parachutes, creating a breathtaking nighttime show you don’t want to miss. The beautiful theming and lighting were designed and executed in detail by Toverland.

On May 23rd, 2023 SeaWorld in Abu Dhabi opened its doors to the public featuring two signature attractions from Intamin.

The World’s first DOME RIDE THEATER, “Hypersphere 360”, is an ultimate all-encompassing virtual reality immersion with an uninterrupted 360° imagery surrounding view in any direction for each guest. Visitors will travel the world’s seas and explore the ocean’s depths without wearing isolating headsets on a fully rotating and tilting ring inside the LED sphere, supporting the illusion that the sphere is gliding through liquid space. The ride features comfortable floorless seats with a range of special effects. Intamin has joined forces with Attraktion! to supply this World’s most immersive amusement ride.

The LSM MULTI LAUNCH COASTER “Manta Coaster” extends outside on a track length of almost 1200 meters. Besides the top speed of about 80 km/h, riders will experience three launches, a total of 17 breathtaking air- and hang time moments, a zero-gravity flip and three inversions while whizzing through this truly stunning layout with numerous close interactions and near miss elements in an extensively themed surrounding. Beautifully themed in manta ray style, the 20-seater trains have ergonomically shaped seats with state of the art over-the-shoulder lap bars to ensure maximum freedom, comfort, and the highest safety for passengers.

On June 17th, 2023 PortAventura World successfully opened their new MULTI DIMENSION COASTER named “Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence”. Uncharted is the World’s first indoor quintuple (5x) LSM launch coaster featuring the World’s first side launch.

Located in the park’s Far West area, the attraction is based on the world of the Uncharted movie, which is inspired by the video games of the same name. The Uncharted movie tells the story of the treasure hunters Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan “Sully”, in their first adventure searching for a lost treasure of Magellan.

This Multi Dimension Coaster is the first of its kind in many ways. It is not only the world’s first indoor quintuple (5x) LSM launch coaster but also features the world’s first side launch. This unique dark ride coaster has Europe’s first side drop as well as the first dark ride offering drifting maneuvers thanks to the controlled spinning 12-seater vehicles. It is the first Multi Dimension Coaster in Spain and therefore has many first off elements in the country. All these unique coaster technologies give guests an incredibly thrilling two minutes indoor coaster experience on almost 700 meters of track.

This dark ride roller coaster is the first collaboration between Sally and Intamin. Intamin is proud of having contributed to the success of PortAventura World and would like to thank the entire team for the outstanding cooperation.

On June 02nd 2023, Sea World San Diego started public operation of its new attraction named “Arctic Rescue”. On this arctic themed FAMILY LAUNCH STRADDLE COASTER, riders are launched on snowmobiles and ride to the rescue.

This family-friendly thrill coaster features a total of three launches, whereas the passengers start their journey inside of the Wild Arctic exhibit straddling a unique snowmobile style vehicle. They will race through the Arctic and each of the three exhilarating launches is faster than the one before with a top speed of around 65 km/h (40mph). The snowmobiles allow for an exciting ride experience for each rider as they lean into banks and turns and whizz along a total of over 850 meters (2’800ft) of track.

Intamin’s Family Launch Coaster, as its name suggests, is a more family-oriented attraction, but at the same time still quite thrilling. Using Intamin’s state of the art friction wheel drive system in combination with a unique and highly popular vehicle design, this coaster type has proven to be an exciting variation on Intamin’s family of launch coasters. The upright seating position, in a side-by-side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats, guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.
