LAUNCHES

On the 13th June 2020, Futuroscope in France successfully opened its first roller coaster Objectif Mars a Family Launch Spinning Coaster.

Dive into the heart of the new space training center. Become a future astronaut and take the tests to measure your ability to go on a mission to explore the red planet while facing solar flares and electromagnetic fields.

It all starts in the waiting area where riders feel like being transported to a NASA training center. Clean white walls, yellow lines on the ground, astronaut equipment, robot voices and rocket sound ready for takeoff.

Once passengers have boarded the 12-seater trains of Objectif Mars, the journey starts after the countdown on the 500 meter track. Entering an immersive and interactive pre-show dark ride section, riders enjoy a virtual astronaut training with controlled vehicle spinning, before taken on their space flight. Once the train has passed the dark ride section, it moves outdoor, where a friction wheel propulsion launches the train. After the launch, riders get thrilled by a curved hill followed by a speed curve where the train reaches its maximum speed of approx. 55 km/h. Passing through the second launch, passengers will experience several more coaster elements before coming to a halt in a dead-end section. The most distinctive element awaits the astronauts, a 5 m vertical drop track, taking riders by surprise, before heading back to the station.

This Family Launch Spinning Coaster is not only highly innovative in terms of layout and ride experience but also in respect to the technology incorporated ensuring highest safety and maximum comfort.

INTAMIN is proud of having contributed to the success of Futuroscope.

NEAR MISSES

Mid of June 2019, Guangzhou Sunac Land in China successfully opened the World’s first Dueling LSM Triple Launch Coaster, named Dueling Dragons.

This most unique coaster features a layout, in which two dragon themed trains, one suspended and one sit-down, are dueling each other with a number of thrilling near-miss elements.

Utilizing Intamin’s most powerful LSM drive system, the trains of Dueling Dragons are simultaneously launched forward into the loop. Stalling by gravity in the loop, the trains then move backwards into the already passed LSM section. Launching backwards, both trains pick up even more speed, allowing them to reach the crest of the 50 meter high vertical spike. This is when riders experience a stunning moment of zero-gravity weightlessness airtime with their eyes facing down. Accelerated by the LSM drive system for a third time, the trains reach their top speed of approx. 100 km/h (sit-down train) respectively 110 km/h (suspended train) while rushing forward, passing through the loop. Out of the loop, passengers will experience several heart-pounding inversions, breath-taking airtime elements and a total of five near-miss configurations, bringing riders feet respectively arms close to the other train. Even spectators will be amazed while watching the two dragons dueling each other.

Another distinctive element is the fact that the physical track length of the sit-down layout is 790 meters and of the suspended layout 830 meters, whereas the actual traveled distance is 980 meters and 1030 meters, which is a result of the forward-backward-forward launch.

This Dueling LSM Triple Launch Coaster is not only highly innovative in terms of layout and ride experience but also in respect to the technology incorportated. Besides the integrated water-cooling system for the LSM drives, this coaster features INTAMIN’s newest train design with ergonomically shaped seats, ensuring highest safety and maximum comfort.

INTAMIN is proud of having contributed to the success of Guangzhou Sunac Land.

of Gondola

With the start of the new season, Djurs Sommerland in Denmark put Denmark’s highest, fastest and most impressive Gyro Swing named Tigeren into public operation.

Tigeren, meaning “Tiger” in Danish, is themed in connection to the powerful and mighty animal living in the Asian jungles. Located at the Wild Asia themed area of the park it joins Drage Kongen, INTAMIN’s Suspended Family Coaster (installed in 2017), Piraten, INTAMIN’s Ultra Coaster and Juvelen, the Family Launch Coaster (both opened in 2013).

The swinging pendulum of Tigeren reaches a top speed of 100 km/h combined with a comfortable slow rotation speed of the gondola. Most important of all is the suspended seating arrangement for 40 passengers, all facing outward, producing a sensational feeling of flying. As the pendulum passes through the vertical position, the passengers experience the thrill of increased G-forces. Swinging to a height of up to 45 meters with a 120 degree angle of swing, the sensation of almost complete weightlessness is dazzling any rider daring to try out Tigeren.

Besides the seats and the restraint, which both are guaranteeing highest passenger comfort, also the main drive represents a highly innovative design. Executed as a direct drive, it is the most powerful on the market and at the same time almost noiseless. INTAMIN’s Gyro Swing is not only the most spectacular, it is probably the quietest round ride of this class and size.

INTAMIN is proud of having contributed once again to the success of Djurs Sommerland and would like to sincerely thank the entire team for the great cooperation.

A new record breaker is born. Energylandia has started operation of Hyperion, Europe’s highest and fastest Mega Coaster.

Thematically, the passengers on Hyperion are to immerse themselves in a space scenario and become part of a research mission to Saturn’s moon – Hyperion. The spaceship “Hyperion_1” encounters a black hole during its mission and enters the space-time tunnel, whereupon the crew discovers another universe.

After leaving the space themed station, the train is taken up the lift hill. Time to breathe in and enjoy the fantastic views before enjoying this most thrilling ride. The first drop of this spectacular Mega Coaster is 85° and has a record-breaking 82 meter drop. At the end of the descent, the train passes through the tunnel, which is located below ground level, at a top speed of 142 km/h. The 1’450 meter long track provides everything a roller coaster fan and adrenaline junkie is looking for. The effects of weightlessness, unexpected gravitational effects, as well as rotational slopes of the track will make anyone’s heart rate increase drastically. There are fascinating positive and negative load factors and a stunning speed when climbing hills, getting into corners and, of course, plummeting down. Before jumping into brakes at the end of the ride, riders will experience an automatically set water splash.

Using INTAMIN’s state of the art trains, the seat height and especially the raised seat position where the feet do not touch the floor, allow for an experience and feeling of “flying through the air”, even for taller people. Each of the two trains seats 28 people and is designed in a configuration of 7 rows of 4 seats each, whereas the 2 inner seats are raised.

Hyperion joins the three INTAMIN Water Rides at Energylandia which started operation this year – Speed Water Coaster INTAMIN’s Water Coaster, Anaconda the Spillwater ride and Jungle Adventure a Rapids Ride.

INTAMIN is proud of having contributed to the success of Energylandia again and would like to thank the entire team for the great cooperation.

LAUNCHES

At the beginning of April 2018, Parc Le Pal in France started public operation of its biggest attraction ever named Yukon Quad. On this ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) themed Family Launch Coaster, riders are launched into the landscape of northern Canada.

After the pre-show, the door opens to take the ATV into the 1000 meter long “canadian wilderness”. The quads are being launched to reach 65 km/h followed by the first narrow curve taking riders up to the highest point at 12 meters. Yukon Quad drivers are at this time feeling accelerations of up to 3 Gs. Going down the hill, the track continues to change directions low on ground, which increases the feeling of speed immensly.

After these thrilling figures, riders are launched very smoothly for the second time to 85 km/h. The tight curve after the second launch makes the riders holding on tight to the handlebars while whizzing past trees and rocks. Before being thrown on the last hill and an S-hump, a very narrow curve brings the train to a very smooth brake making the end of the ride really dynamic. After having enjoyed this exceptional adventure of this crazy hike in the canadian north… riders get off with a big, big smile.

INTAMIN’s Family Launch Coaster, as its name suggests, is a more family oriented, but at the same time still quite thrilling. Using Intamin’s state of the art friction wheel drive system in combination with a unique and highly popular vehicle design, this coaster type has proven to be an exciting variation on INTAMIN’s family of launch coasters. The upright seating position, in a side by side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats and on top of all this the exciting launch/boost experience, guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.

INTAMIN is proud of having contributed to the success of Parc Le Pal and would like to thank the entire team for the great cooperation.
