“Quantum Accelerator” – Compact Family Launch Coaster at Six Flags New England

Quantum Accelerator kicks off with its first launch out of the station. This opening sequence, featuring smooth twists and turns, serves as a warm-up for what lies ahead. The train then hits the second launch, propelling riders to a top speed of 72 km/h (45 mph) utilizing Intamin’s proven friction wheel launch technology.

A 180° high-speed turnaround is implemented thereafter to reach the ride’s maximum height at 18 meters (59 feet) in a steel-efficient structure over the station, saving space within the compact footprint.

The ride then transitions into a low-to-the-ground, high-speed section filled with unpredictable twists and turns, delivering a wide range of sensations suitable for the whole family.

In total, Quantum Accelerator features 11 airtimes moments packed into 793 m (2 604 ft) long layout.

One of the key innovations of this next-generation Family Launch Coaster is its new aluminium-machined train chassis. This weld-free design reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates the need for non-destructive weld testing (NDT), enhancing long-term reliability.

This new design for Intamin Family Launch Coaster trains is based on the experience and technology of Intamin’s highly regarded LSM Launch Coasters, having implemented machined train chassis since years.

The accessible train design incorporates Intamin’s Jet Ski straddle coaster model, featuring a walk-through platform situated behind the seats to facilitate the loading procedure. The seats and individual lap bars create an open straddle riding position, with a minimum height requirement of 1.2m (48″).

This setup allows riders to hold the handlebars, lean forward, and move through the layout using the custom-designed “hover bike” vehicles imagined by the Six Flags creative teams.
