Danse Macabre wins its first award
The FKF Award for Best Park Innovation goes to the Dutch theme park Efteling for the attraction Danse Macabre. The unique Dynamic Motion Stage ride system from Intamin Amusement Rides enables an immersive experience that seamlessly combines a complex interplay of movements, reminiscent of a falling coin’s dance, and show elements.
The FKF Awards
Kalkar, February 1, 2025 – The winners of the FKF Award were announced at this year’s FKF Convention at Wunderland Kalkar. Since 2003, the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks e.V. (FKF) has honored the previous year’s outstanding new attractions at European amusement parks and funfairs with this prestigious award.
The FKF Awards are decided by more than 1,700 members of the FKF community from nine countries, making this an important recognition within the German and European theme park enthusiast communities.
Danse Macabre
On October 31st, Efteling unveiled their latest immersive attraction, “Danse Macabre,” to the public. The innovative ride system, developed in partnership with Intamin (the Dynamic Motion Stage), exemplifies a cutting-edge ride system that complements Efteling’s renowned storytelling expertise.
Guests enter a dilapidated chapel, where they become part of the eponymous dance of death while a ghostly orchestra plays. The detailed design and in-depth background story make Danse Macabre a worthy successor to the former Spookslot (1978–2022), which stood in the same location.
A huge thank you to Efteling for their incredible collaboration and passion in bringing this ride to life. And, of course, thanks to all the participants who voted and recognized our work!
