On 31 December 2025, Spitfire opened to the public at Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia. With a maximum height of 73 metres, Spitfire features three LSM launches and the world’s tallest inversion on a roller coaster, an Inverted Top Hat.
Triple Launch Experience
Once dispatched, the train exits the station and travels towards the launch. While the train stops on the first launch section, Intamin’s Fast Switch slides laterally in less than 3 seconds, before the Intamin LSM Launch, the most powerful on the market, begins
The first launch reaches a speed of 90 km/h from a standstill, passes over an airtime hill before entering the Inverted Top Hat for the first time. Without reaching the highest point, the train rolls back down the element.
The train then travels through the launch section backwards, accelerating to 120 km/h, before passengers experience a long and thrilling moment of weightlessness on the vertical spike.
The train then rolls forward again to the launch one last time, reaching a top speed of 127 km/h and allowing the train to pass through the world’s tallest inversion, an Inverted Top Hat, giving riders thrilling upside-down views of Six Flags Qiddiya City and Falcons Flight. The train then enters a gravity run, and a strong airtime jump into the brakes.
Riders experience 900 meters of track with a physical track length of 582 meters, making Spitfire a thrilling ride experience packed with airtime and weightlessness.
Innovative Train Design and Immersive Theming
Spitfire’s train takes advantage of Intamin’s renowned LSM seat, widely regarded as one of the most comfortable coaster seats on the market. The lightweight, over-the-shoulder carbon lap bars, combined with the level boarding platforms, ensure smooth, efficient and effortless operations. In addition, the aluminium-machined train chassis includes a weld-free design reducing maintenance requirements and eliminates the need for non-destructive weld testing (NDT) and enhancing long-term reliability.
Themed to the famous British aircraft used by the Royal Air Force, Spitfire’s trains theming has been envisioned by Six Flags Qiddiya City creatives. The unique painting techniques employed by Intamin’s artists ensure the most realistic result, immersing riders in the Six Flags Qiddiya City land named Valley of Fortune. The trains also feature an aircraft front propeller, along with a replica dashboard, windshield, and other components inspired by the original plane.
Intamin extends special thanks to all Six Flags Qiddiya City teams for their trust and collaboration on this world-class project.
