On April 17th 2026, Six Flags New England unveiled their first dual-launch straddle coaster “Quantum Accelerator“. This Intamin Family Launch Coaster delivers a family-friendly thrill experience with a large variety of exciting elements within a highly compact layout.

Quantum Accelerator’s Compact Layout

Quantum Accelerator kicks off with its first launch out of the station. This opening sequence, featuring smooth twists and turns, serves as a warm-up for what lies ahead. The train then hits the second launch, propelling riders to a top speed of 72 km/h (45 mph) utilizing Intamin’s proven friction wheel launch technology.

A 180° high-speed turnaround is implemented thereafter to reach the ride’s maximum height at 18 meters (59 feet) in a steel-efficient structure over the station, saving space within the compact footprint.

The ride then transitions into a low-to-the-ground, high-speed section filled with unpredictable twists and turns, delivering a wide range of sensations suitable for the whole family.

In total, Quantum Accelerator features 11 airtimes moments packed into 793 m (2 604 ft) long layout.

New Family Launch Chassis

One of the key innovations of this next-generation Family Launch Coaster is its new aluminium-machined train chassis. This weld-free design reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates the need for non-destructive weld testing (NDT), enhancing long-term reliability.

This new design for Intamin Family Launch Coaster trains is based on the experience and technology of Intamin’s highly regarded LSM Launch Coasters, having implemented machined train chassis since years.

The accessible train design incorporates Intamin’s Jet Ski straddle coaster model, featuring a walk-through platform situated behind the seats to facilitate the loading procedure. The seats and individual lap bars create an open straddle riding position, with a minimum height requirement of 1.2m (48″).

This setup allows riders to hold the handlebars, lean forward, and move through the layout using the custom-designed “hover bike” vehicles imagined by the Six Flags creative teams.

It’s time for thrill-seekers and families alike to experience Quantum Accelerator, a ride designed to bring excitement and smiles to the entire family.

On July 26, 2024, Intamin’s esteemed partner Drayton Manor (UK) opened their new ride “Gold Rush”, one of the most innovative family coaster in Europe, to the public. Gold Rush is Europe, and Intamin’s, first family coaster featuring both a lift and a launch in the same ride as well as a multi-experience layout configuration.

Lift & Launch

Gold Rush at Drayton Manor offers a dynamic ride which will take you on a wild adventure through the history of the gold mining era.

In one of the two ride sequences, you will experience the lift hill both in the classic forward way but will, after a separate backwards friction wheel launch section, reverse the backside of the lift hill, stall, and launch forwards back down the lift hill again.

Afterward, a dynamic friction wheel launch will then propel you through close-to-ground manoeuvres along the rest of the exciting layout. The layout includes includes many low-to-the-ground elements that create a surprising and dynamic ride experience for the whole family.

Gold Rush features Intamin’s proven single-backbone track which ensures a smooth ride experience and offers an aesthetically pleasing design, requiring fewer columns compared to the traditional two-pipe track systems

Multi-Experience Ride

Additionally, Gold Rush is designed with a unique multi-experience layout configuration, enabling it to alternate between two distinct ride sequences at the flick of a switch. This allows the park to vary the ride experience, opting (for example) for one sequence in the morning and a different one later in the day.

On July 20th, 2023 Fuji-Q Highland had the grand opening of their new LSM LAUNCH MOTORBIKE COASTER named “Zokkon”.

Fuji-Q Highland is one of Japan’s most popular amusement parks, located in the Fuji Five Lake region at the foot of Mount Fuji. It is best known for its thrilling, record-breaking roller coasters and elaborate, anime-themed rides and attractions. Utilizing Intamin’s most powerful LSM propulsion system, this Multi Launch Coaster has a height of 24 meters and an experienced track length of more than 1’300 meters with top speeds of over 70 km/h. Hold tight, Zokkon features four powerful LSM launches of which one is a backward launch right after the breathtaking spike taking riders backwards to an indoor show scene. Passengers get to enjoy twelve airtime moments, electrifying turns and gripping ride elements that will leave anyone gasping for more.The futuristic 14-seater motorbike themed trains, with integrated sound and lighting come in a side-by-side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats. This roller coaster guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.

On June 02nd 2023, Sea World San Diego started public operation of its new attraction named “Arctic Rescue”. On this arctic themed FAMILY LAUNCH STRADDLE COASTER, riders are launched on snowmobiles and ride to the rescue.

This family-friendly thrill coaster features a total of three launches, whereas the passengers start their journey inside of the Wild Arctic exhibit straddling a unique snowmobile style vehicle. They will race through the Arctic and each of the three exhilarating launches is faster than the one before with a top speed of around 65 km/h (40mph). The snowmobiles allow for an exciting ride experience for each rider as they lean into banks and turns and whizz along a total of over 850 meters (2’800ft) of track.

Intamin’s Family Launch Coaster, as its name suggests, is a more family-oriented attraction, but at the same time still quite thrilling. Using Intamin’s state of the art friction wheel drive system in combination with a unique and highly popular vehicle design, this coaster type has proven to be an exciting variation on Intamin’s family of launch coasters. The upright seating position, in a side-by-side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats, guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.

On DarKoaster, daring explorers race through total darkness to escape the strange weather patterns that have been recorded. As the storm strikes, riders encounter four accelerating launches and speeds up to 58 km/h (36 mph) on this family-friendly dark ride adventure. Using Intamin’s state of the art friction wheel drive system, riders experience a track length of 720 meters (2454 ft), whereas the physical track length is 422m (1400 ft). DarKoaster is another great execution of Intamin’s famous Family Launch Coaster spiked with many surprising ride elements.

The two 10-seater snowmobile themed trains come in a side-by-side arrangement with two passengers per vehicle, in combination with the individual lap-bar paired with foamed seats. This roller coaster guarantees a safe and unique ride experience combined with a high comfort for passengers.
